Great podcast, thanks for sharing. Indeed, I remember when I was off Facebook for three years — some of the happiest and peaceful times of my life. Two things came to mind when talking about social media — George Orwell’s 1984 of course. But the other thing that came to mind was Star Trek The Next Generation episode “The Game.” That episode was one of the more disturbing ones in that everyone became addicted to this fully immersive “game” — prescient, considering the Social Media addictions of today.

Really great podcast this was, hit the nail on the head with us being more passive and that in turn means yeah we’re not starting bands or doing art which has an impact on culture

I am happy to know you found our talk informative, Jo.

Small steps for each of us as we walk away from social media dependency.

And Seth's doing a great job with the cause.

Thank you! I have a bunch of different aspirations I'm working on right now but social media makes me feel horrible, beyond just using it as a kind of advertisement. So when I think about future business planning I just feel so overwhelmed and grossed out. I left Facebook many years ago because it made me feel so awful and was such a time-suck, and I've only got a few profiles left. I really hope us disengaging will change this current situation because this is untenable for all kinds of creatives and other self-managed professionals.

I absolutely LOVE the email idea BTW. That really speaks to my natural way of behaving; I love reaching out to show appreciation for the work of others.

There you go! You can easily send an email everyday to SOMEBODY who is doing amazing work... and then just, see where it leads!
